We just bought a 2009. Same exact situation. Mine has 3/8 or 7/16" OSB that is in really bad shape. I didnt see this until we got it home yesterday. The wife is very upset about it. Thanks for putting this video up.
I have a palomino and I just noticed my back board tonight. First time setting it up this year. It was all wet and is crumbling. Good video. FYI though that smaller board you installed is mdf and will absorb moisture like a sponge. Make sure you watch that or even replace it with 16th inch wood. Good video though. Now I know how to replace mine. Thanks!
Thanks Brian I have the same repair that I'm about to start next week. Did you install new corner brackets to tie the corners together where the new wood was installed?
Do you have to slide the new weather stripping into the channel? Or does it snap in? Does the little extra lip on the new stuff face the outside of the camper to give it an extra seal? (sorry for the questions – I will be doing this job very soon myself on our 99 Palomino)
We purchased a Palomino Lite truck camper last year and I have the same issue on the front. The dealer is going to replace the whole top. My top was leaking last year and they recommend a caulk called Quad. You can get it at Menards. Great stuff. It fixed the other leak, now on to the front.
We also purchased a used palomino camper with a rotted board just like this. Great info on how to repair it! Thanks!
Thank you for the video. It gives me an idea how to repair, my '85 Coleman Sun Valley.
ha you said caulk!
