  4. these patches are legal in N.A but they are very short term and are meant for one hot season, anything more then that is a liability to the company

  5. 5 years old roof? oh man i felt bad for ya lookin at this roof, we use GAF 30 year architectural shingles let me tell ya that type of shingle has a real aggressive seal in my opinion 25 year 3 tab shingles should be outlawed lol in all of our repair calls a 3 tab shingle are one of the main things people call about that either blew off there roof or needs fixin 3 tab shingles are just bad all together sure it's a cheaper way to go but they take alot longer to properly seal

    Not sure what time of year the roof was installed. We bought the house about two years after the roof was done. I suspect the owner might have DIY jobbed it. There are many things around the place that have that special "quality" about them.

    I thought the roof might have been done in the cold but we've had several very hot summers since then so I thought the shingles should stick down eventually anyway. I reckon the shingles were cheap old stock ones maybe.

  7. Hey, I'd like to think i'm an experienced roofer and I have one question for you.. Was your roof put on in the winter? From the look of the roof and it being only 5 years old I can only think that it was put on during a colder month for the tar underneath the shingles not to stick. And if that's the case, like you said summer would be a much smarter idea.

    I think a previous homeowner may have actually done the roof himself according to neighbors who have lived here all along. No warranty on that job.
    When we do get the roof redone I'll definitely be springing for good long-life shingles and a ridge vent, don't worry.
